What Green Design and Build does
Green Design and Build is a licensed California design-build general contractor (CSLB #1110975), based in Van Nuys and working across Los Angeles County, the San Fernando Valley, Orange County, Ventura County, western Riverside County and western San Bernardino County. Design, engineering, permitting and construction are handled by one company under one contract, which is the practical difference between a design-build contractor and hiring an architect and a builder separately.
We take on residential work from a single bathroom through to a whole-house rebuild: additions and ADUs, kitchens and baths, roofing, foundations, electrical and plumbing, flooring and paint, and everything outside the house: concrete, pavers, patio covers, retaining walls, turf, fencing, outdoor kitchens and landscaping. Below is every service we offer, what a job of that type typically costs across Southern California, and where to read the detail.

These are typical Los Angeles budgeting estimates, not a price list or a quote. Your project can come in lower or higher depending on the house, the scope and the finishes; the only real number is a written proposal after a site visit.
Load-bearing wall removal, which comes up in most open-plan kitchen projects, runs $10,000 to $25,000 on a single-storey house — see removing a load-bearing wall. Our full pricing approach is on the pricing page, and financing options are set out separately.

How a project runs with us
One contract covers design through final inspection, so there is no gap between the person who drew it and the people who build it.
- Site walk and feasibility. We look at the property, what the zoning and the existing structure allow, and give you a realistic range before anyone pays for drawings.
- Design and engineering. Plans, structural calculations and the Title 24 energy work, produced in-house.
- Permitting. We submit, answer plan-check corrections and pull the permits. This is where most owner-managed projects stall.
- Construction. One superintendent, our own crews for the core trades, and a schedule you can see.
- Inspections and closeout. We carry the job through final sign-off, and the work is covered by our warranty.
The longer version, including what happens at each stage and who you deal with, is on the design-build process page.
Where we work
We build across five counties. County pages: Los Angeles County, Orange County, Ventura County, western Riverside County and western San Bernardino County. Cities we work in most often include Van Nuys, Sherman Oaks, Encino, Studio City, Woodland Hills, Northridge, Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, Santa Clarita, Thousand Oaks, Irvine, Anaheim, Corona, Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga. The complete list is on areas we serve.
Licence, insurance and warranty
We hold California contractor licence CSLB #1110975, which you can verify directly on the CSLB licence check. We are licensed, bonded and insured, and carry workers’ compensation for our crews. Our workmanship warranty is written into the contract. Homeowner reviews are on our reviews page, and if you are comparing contractors, our guide to hiring a general contractor without getting scammed explains exactly what to check before you sign anything — including the licence status of whoever else you are talking to.
